Our academics

Our academics

PRC has established three state-of-the-art modality training academies — CT, MRI and Ultrasound. Each is designed to help our people learn from experienced colleagues, attain additional credentials and build careers that go further than they could anywhere else in WA.

These aren't short courses or tick-box training. They're structured, ongoing development programmes built into how we work — with real patients, real equipment and real career outcomes.

CT Academy

The CT Academy is designed for radiographers who want to develop deep expertise in one of the most technically demanding and clinically versatile modalities in diagnostic imaging.

What the CT Academy offers:

•        Continued medical education and subspecialty training — including cardiac scanning and vascular work-ups

•        Training delivered across hospital and clinic environments — real patients, not simulations

•        Highly specialised CT machines, with access to MRI, breast services, ultrasound, x-ray and DEXA in the same clinical environment

•        Advice and supervision from subspecialist radiologists and experienced radiographers

Support for research and higher degrees — Masters and PhD

MRI Academy

The MRI Academy operates across 13 PRC sites — making it one of the most accessible and comprehensive structured MRI training programmes in Australia. It's designed for radiographers who are serious about MRI and want a clear, supported pathway to specialist practice.

What the MRI Academy offers:

  • Structured pathway to ASMIRT Level 1 MRI Certification
  • Supported attainment of a Graduate Certificate in Magnetic Resonance Technology (MRT) or higher
  • Structured mentorship throughout your career — not just at the start
  • Patient-centric education using the latest imaging protocols
  • Peer learning, advanced certification and continuous quality improvement
  • Targeted opportunities to develop future leaders in MRI
  • Support for research, publications and active industry engagement

The Academy operates across 13 sites, ensuring flexibility and accessibility for all participants — and will be further enhanced with advanced MRI equipment and real patient interactions at PRC's Murdoch clinic.

Ultrasound Academy

The PRC Ultrasound Academy is a purpose-built training environment designed to develop exceptional sonographers — whether you're already qualified or making the transition from radiography.

What the Ultrasound Academy offers:

  • A formal, structured pathway for radiographers to qualify as sonographers
  • Continuing medical education and subspecialty training for practising sonographers
  • Equipped for lectures, presentations and educational events
  • Hands-on training with state-of-the-art equipment — demonstrations and real patient access
  • 1:1 feedback rooms providing individual instruction and personalised feedback
  • Tutors who monitor and guide student work throughout the programme
  • Access to a full range of services including MRI, breast, CT, x-ray and DEXA for real-world clinical context
  • Support for undergraduate placements — 3rd and 4th year radiology students
  • Research support for advanced degrees — Masters and PhD

Study support & scholarships

Beyond the three academies, PRC supports its people to pursue further study and formal qualifications — including through a number of funded scholarship programmes.

PRC scholarship programme

PRC has established a scholarship programme for existing non-doctor team members to undertake university courses in Medical Imaging, Sonography or Nuclear Medicine. If you're looking to formalise your skills or transition into a clinical discipline, this programme is designed to support that move.

PRC Indigenous Scholarship — Curtin University

PRC sponsors the Perth Radiological Clinic Indigenous Scholarship at Curtin University for undergraduate students studying the Bachelor of Medical Imaging. The scholarship is valued at $20,000 over the four-year course and reflects PRC's commitment to building a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community we serve.

RMIT partnership — Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine)

PRC has partnered with RMIT to introduce the Embedded Student Model: Bachelor of Medical Radiation (Nuclear Medicine — Industry Practice) to Western Australia. This is the first time WA students can access undergraduate study in nuclear medicine without leaving the state — and PRC is at the centre of making it happen.

Students in this programme gain real clinical experience embedded within PRC's nuclear medicine and PET environment — learning on the equipment and alongside the specialists who are shaping the discipline in WA.
